THE UNSCHOOLER’S EMPORIUM BROADENS ITS PRODUCT LINE AND AVAILABLE RESOURCES TO THE UNSCHOOLING COMMUNITY

The Unschooler’s Emporium established its business in early 2010, to offer the Unschooling Community a myriad of books, tools and natural remedies that have already shown themselves to be a success by the families that have used them. Although a young business, because of its focused and dedicated product line, and its approach to unschooling, it has, in its infancy, garnered much attention and praise from Unschooling Advocates Dayna Martin, Sandra Dodd and many more.

The purpose of the expansion for The Unschooler’s Emporium is part of a continuing effort to satisfy the needs of this ever-growing community. Whether a family is new to unschooling or has been enjoying its advantages for many years, they want one central location where they can purchase all of the products that will help support Unschooler’s and help each person on their unschooling journey to grow.

Products such as the Pokeman Statuettes, various kitchen sets, including Ivy’s Kitchen, Thinking Sticks a.k.a. “Sandra Dodd’s Thought Manipulatives” are just a few of the many items available on the Unschooler’s Emporium. Although many similar items can be found elsewhere, the goal of the Unschooler’s Emporium is to make them all available in one location, saving the community hours of research. The end result with all the time saved, it gives them back more time to spend with their children.

In addition to the extensive inventory of items in the store, the Unschooler’s Emporium also serves as a resource of information to answer all of the frequently asked questions, a place to network with other families that unschool their children, and suggestions for getting the most of out this enriching and rewarding experience. Parents can learn from the community’s vast collective knowledge of dedicated families, who have tried them, found them to be a success and are happy to share them with the unschooling community.

If a family is unfamiliar with unschooling, has heard a lot of the “buzz” about it and are curious whether it is something they would like to incorporate into their family’s life, this is how it works.

Children have a natural curiosity when it comes to learning. Following their lead and working with the child’s innate ability to learn at the pace he or she sets, in a positive, unforced and most importantly non-judgmental fashion, children are free to absorb his or her surroundings without fears or limitations. It doesn’t matter whether a family adopts this method when their child is 7 or 15; it’s never too late to start. Parents all over the globe have recognized that not all children thrive in a strict school environment. Unschooling provides children an opportunity to learn at his or her own pace, which can only serve to pique his or her interest and want to take on new challenges.

Radical Unschooling is a progressive parenting philosophy, which includes children learning at home. It is different from homeschooling in that children are not forced to follow curriculum lessons and tests. Radical Unschooling philosophy focuses on trust of a child’s innate ability to learn without coercion and invites children to explore their passions. The parent’s role is to facilitate their interests and curiosity.
